Egypt-Saudi electricity grids to start interconnection in early-2019
The electricity grids for Egypt and Saudi Arabia are expected to start interconnecting and exchanging electrical capacities starting late 2018/early 2019, said New and Renewable Energy Authority Chief Mohamed El Sobky. Both countries are set to benefit from the project due to a difference in peak usage hours, he added. On another note, there are a growing number of Egyptian-African partnerships in renewable energy projects, he added. The Ministry of Electricity is preparing feasibility, technical, and economical studies on interconnection projects with the Nile Basin countries which are expected to be completed within a year.
