Egypt delays third LNG terminal due to rising domestic production, Petroleum Minister says
Egypt will delay plans to rent a third LNG import terminal, according to Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla. A reevaluation of natural gas projects that will feed into the national grid showed the local market did not need any more gas imports next year, he said without providing details on how long the delay would be for. Norway's Hoegh delivered Egypt's first FSRU in April 2015 and Singapore-based Norwegian gas shipping company BW Gas supplied the second in September 2015. Egypt held a tender in July this year for a third FSRU to handle a surge in LNG demand from new power plants coming online, and it was expected to arrive in June 2017. (Reuters)
