EEHC receives five offers worth USD250mn for waste-to-energy projects
The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) received offers worth USD250mn from five foreign power distribution companies for waste-to-energy (WtE) projects, unidentified government sources told Al Borsa. The proposals came from Emirati, Chinese, Indian and Canadian companies looking to construct WtE power plants using biogas and burnable agricultural waste with production capacities ranging between 10MW and 20MW. According to the sources, the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Agency (Egyptera) has already approved setting the feed-in tariff for WtE projects at EGP 1.03/kWh.
