Dubai Tourism embraces blockchain technology to boost tourism
Dubai Tourism, a branch of the Emirate's government that promotes leisurely travel, is introducing blockchain in a business-to-business market place for the tourism industry in the next 24 months in a bid to boost tourist numbers as the country diversifies away from relying on oil revenues. The Dubai 10X initiative was unveiled at the World Government Summit in Dubai by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai Government. Dubai Tourism said it will use a sophisticated blockchain solution to provide transparent pricing and the ability to make tailored trips in a tamper free manner. Tourism is an essential component of Dubai's economy and contributed 9.4% of the Emirate's GDP in 2016.
