Dubai's plan for Universal Studios theme park finally scrapped
The plan to build a Universal Studios Dubailand development has been officially been scrapped, as confirmed by the theme park’s two main backers, Dubai Holding and Universal Studios Theme Parks & Resorts. Both companies confirmed that there were no plans to push ahead with the long-delayed project. The construction of the development has reportedly started in 2008, but was stalled following the 2008/09 financial crisis. Universal Studios confirmed that while the company would always be open to opportunities in the region, it had stepped away from this specific project. Universal Studios Dubailand was originally scheduled to be completed before the end of 2010. (Arabian Business)
