Drake & Scull International (DSI) has been awarded a AED120mn contract by Emirates District Cooling (Emicool) to expand the district cooling system within Sports City in Dubai. The expansion will extend the supply of chilled water from the Hessa Street district cooling plant to new buildings within the Sports City development. Canada’s MHPM Driver is managing the project, which is expected to be completed by July 2018. The network will increase the production capacity for the Sports City development to 77,000 refrigerated tonnes (RT). The news was reported by MEED, Emirates 24/7 and Cooling Post, but is yet to be announced/confirmed by DSI. If true, this would increase new awards YTD to AED463mn to DSI from two awards. Our numbers incorporate AED3.1bn in new awards in 2016 for the company.
