Domestic gas demand will hit 5.5 bcf per day in the summer months, according to EGAS
The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) estimates that domestic natural gas demand will be around 5.5 bcf per day in the summer, excluding demand from the Idku and Damietta liquefaction plants, a source told Al Borsa. The source added that demand from fertilizer and steel producers alone have reached 510 mcf per day and 210 mcf per day, respectively. Overall, we do not expect that summer months will pass by without any supply disruptions during 2016 and that utilisation rates will still be less than full rates. For Steel producers, such as Ezz Steel, we expect DRI plants to operate at c75% in 2016. As for nitrogen fertilisers producers, which includes EK Holding's Alexfert [EKHO.CA], we expect companies to operate at c75% utilisation during 2016.
