Egypt’s domestic debt surged 24% to EGP503.25bn in FY15/16, according Central Bank of Egypt data. This is compared to a general debt of EGP2.619tr in FY15/16 and EGP2.116tr in FY14/15. The governmental domestic debt reached EGP2.29tr, while the net debt of the economic entities and National Investment bank amounted to EGP103.72bn and EGP309.6bn, respectively. The cost of debt service amounted to cEGP292bn in FY15/16. (Mubasher)
