Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has received bids for the contract to build its AED475mn (USD129mn) Gate Avenue retail district at the DIFC. The 61,000 sqm retail centre will connect existing buildings at DIFC, as well as future developments. There will be 150 retail outlets in the centre that was previously known as the Retail Spine. DIFC says the main construction contract will start before the end of 3Q16 and the centre will open before the end of 2017. DIFC had appointed UAE-based Alec as the contractor for a preparatory works contract at the site. (MEED)
