Delegation from ministries of finance and healthcare visits France to consult on universal healthcare insurance

A delegation from the Ministry of Health and Population and the Ministry of Finance headed to France to meet top healthcare insurance officials, aiming to get familiarised with the French Universal Healthcare Insurance scheme, according to Deputy Minister of Finance, Mohamed Moeit. The visit comes in line with the government’s plan to adopt a universal healthcare insurance scheme, which targets full implementation in 2030, Moeit added. In addition, the Ministry of Finance signed an agreement, financed through a grant by the African Development Bank, with Aon Hewitt, a global house for actuarial studies, to conduct a study for assessing the financial burden on the budget and resources needed to secure the insurance scheme's sustainability, where the preliminary results of the study are expected to be submitted around November. Meanwhile, the ministries of finance and health finalised  a draft of the scheme, which will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers and Parliament within the coming months. (Al Ahram)
