Danone requests extension for deadline to acquire Halayeb until end-January
Danone has requested the extension of the deadline to acquire Halayeb Co. for Dairy Products and Juice to the end of January 2016, from the previously scheduled 30 December 2015 date. Danone has requested the extension so it can finalise the financial and legal work related to the deal, which includes the tax profile, according to Al Borsa’s sources. Also, Danone is retaining EGP10 million in provisions to pay off Halayeb’s outstanding debt for previous years, in the event that Halayeb doesn’t pay off its debts, according to sources speaking to Al Borsa. Halayeb’s product portfolio is focused largely on cheeses, according to its website, sold under the brand name “katilo” that has been in the market for almost 100 years, which Danone plans to keep. The deal value is estimated at EGP120 million. (Al Borsa)
