The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) sets the USD price for customs tariffs on a daily basis, based on the average USD-EGP exchange rates at banks, Head of the Central Administration of Customs at the Egyptian Customs Authority, Mahmoud Issa, said. He added that this price is used for the following day; EGP17.26 against USD was used for Tuesday’s transactions, while EGP17.84 was used on Wednesday. Some shipments have not yet been cleared; they were charged at USD-EGP8.78 prior to the flotation decision and will be cleared based on the old price when these shipments arrived. (Daily News Egypt)
