Crown Prince inaugurates King Salman Energy Park in Dhahran
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, inaugurated on Monday the King Salman Energy Park (SPARK), located in the Kingdom’s Eastern Province. SPARK is a 50 square kilometre energy city megaproject and will unite approximately 300 industrial and service facilities, which will position Saudi Arabia as a global energy, industrial and technology hub. Saudi Aramco will develop, operate, manage and maintain the project’s infrastructure in partnership with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON). Investment in the first phase of the project is expected to be around USD1.6bn. When operational, SPARK is estimated to contribute more than USD6bn to the Kingdom’s GDP annually and create up to 100,000 direct and indirect jobs.
