CIB caps foreign currency withdrawal, purchase abroad - following NBE and Banque Misr
The Commercial International Bank (CIB) decided to halve monthly credit and debit limits on foreign currency withdrawals and purchases abroad starting 1 August. Monthly debit cards limits are dropped to USD750 for purchases and USD250 for cash withdrawals. Monthly Classic credit card limits are dropped to USD2,500 for purchases and USD250 for cash withdrawals, while limits on platinum credit cards’ are dropped to USD12,000 for purchases and USD 1,500 for cash withdrawals. Last week, the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr had slashed limits, while Emirates NBD Egypt backtracked on a plan to suspend card use abroad.
