Central Bank survey shows that credit growth slowed in 2Q16 relative to 1Q16
The Central Bank of UAE’s 2Q16 Credit Sentiment Survey revealed an easing in overall credit conditions for both business and personal segments in June quarter compared to a recovery in the previous quarter. Demand growth for business credit softened in the June quarter, particularly in the emirate of Dubai. Demand for personal loans marginally slowed down across all emirates during the June quarter, mainly for car loan and non-housing investment categories. For 3Q16, the survey respondents expect improved appetite for credit from both businesses and individuals. However, they expect tightening of credit standards from banks in 3Q16.
