CBE Governor Tarek Amer announced that CBE will start providing guarantees to banks for SME loans by end-Dec. CBE will guarantee up to 70% of the value of loans provided to SMEs in Upper Egypt, and up to 60% for SME loans in the rest of Egypt. Amer added that EGP45bn in loans have been provided to SMEs so far under CBE’s initiative.
