CBE Governor, Finance Minister in Washington DC for a round of IMF talks
The CBE Governor Tarek Amer and the Minister of Finance Amr El Garhy met with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) First Deputy Managing Director David Lipton at the IMF headquarters on Wednesday. The talks were “part of their visit to Washington D.C. and ongoing engagement between the IMF and Egypt’s authorities”, the fund said in a statement. Sources report that they will hold talks with senior executives from the fund on the USD12bn extended fund facility and on ways to source the USD5-6bn funding as a condition to the facility. They are also expected to promote the upcoming USD3bn Eurobond issuance. (Bloomberg, Al Masry Al Youm)
