The Cabinet preliminarily approved on 7 February the Pharmaceutical Regulation Act, which should give the government oversight over the manufacturing, importing and selling of medication. The new regulations will also organise a unified system for the purchase of medication and medical equipment. The new act stipulates the creation of the Supreme Council for Medicine and Medical Technology, tasked with setting and implanting policies for the sector. The act would also see the creation of a Medical Technology Authority to oversee procurement of medication and equipment and a Medical Authority that would be responsible for oversight on manufacturing, selling and importing medication.
