Banque Misr seeks CBE-guaranteed five-year syndicated loan of up to USD350mn at Libor+500bps
Banque Misr is in talks to raise a five-year syndicated loan guaranteed by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), according to sources familiar with the matter. The loan is expected to reach c.USD350mn and would offer a margin of c.500bps over the London Interbank Offered Rate (Libor), said one of the banking sources. The fact that the loan is guaranteed by the CBE is a positive factor for banks, which could participate in the loan, the sources noted, adding, however, that the proposed five-year maturity was unusual for financial institutions, which generally raised syndicated loans with shorter tenors. Banque Misr raised a USD250mn three-year loan in December 2015, priced at Libor+290bps. (Reuters)
