Banque Misr eyes SMEs loan portfolio to reach EGP20 billion in four years
Banque Misr targets its SMEs loan portfolio to hit EGP20 billion (USD2.5 billion) in the upcoming four years, according to the bank’s Chairman Mohamed El-Etreby. He stated that Banque Misr is planning to boost finances for SMEs to represent 20% of its total credit portfolio in four years. This move is in line with the recent instruction from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to Egypt banks to increase SMEs lending to 20% of total loans for all the banks by 2020. Banque Misr SMEs loan portfolio reached EGP5.3 billion in June 2015, up 56% Y-o-Y compared to EGP3.5 billion in June 2014. (Amwal Al Ghad)
