Egyptian banks are offering market rates for the USD, trading at 14.7-16.0 at the official market on Thursday, from a record low of USD-EGP18 .0 on the parallel market last Sunday. Banks sold dollars mostly to businesses, were open to dollar depositors and sellers over the Friday-Saturday weekend. It was not clear how many dollars had flowed into the formal banking system since the float; several banks said trade was slow. Meanwhile, parallel market traders said they were offering USD on Friday for EGP16.75-16.95 and buying for EGP16.25-16.30, though volumes were low.  (Reuters)
