Bait Al Batterjee to establish SAR1.5bn medical city in Makkah, hospital set-up offered to MEAHCO
Bait Al Batterjee Medical Company, which owns c55% of Middle East Healthcare Company(4009.SE), is currently establishing a full-fledged medical city in Makkah at an investment cost of SAR1.5bn, according to Makkah Mayor, Osama bin Fadl. The city will span 58k sqm and will include a medical school (up to 2,000 students), in addition to a 400-bed hospital and a 100-bed teaching hospital, according to the company’s CEO Sobhi Batterjee. Al Batterjee added that MEAHCO will be offered the opportunity to build, own and operate the 400-bed hospital under the Saudi German Hospital brand, where Sobhi Al Batterjee is currently Chairman of MEAHCO’s BoD. The works have started in the project three months ago and should be completed within three years. (Argaam, Aljazirah)
