Amazon considering establishing logistics centre in Egypt
Amazon is considering establishing a logistics centre in Egypt, according to Hany Kesis, former chairperson of Egyptian-American Business Council. A number of local producers are in negotiations with Amazon for distributing their products worldwide through the online retail platform. A delegation from Amazon is set to visit Cairo within two-three weeks to discuss the procedures and choose the most appropriate location. Kesis added that Amazon is interested in contracting with three Egyptian exporters in several industries to distribute their products in American and European markets, as long as they match the standards. In case the agreement with the government is being completed, Kesis predicts Egyptian exports through Amazon to amount to USD1bn in the first phase.
