Al Haramein train to start trial run by end of December; to begin operations in 2018
Al Haramein train, which will be used to transport pilgrims and other passengers between Mecca and Medina via Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City, is expected to start its trial run by end-Dec 2017. The 450 km line will be officially inaugurated for public use early 2018 after finalising all safety and operational requirements, and the train will have a maximum speed of 300 km/h. Ticket prices are still under study and will be announced before the launch.
