The launch of 4G mobile services will take place in “the coming few days”, Al Mal quoted the acting head of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), Mostafa Abdelwahed, as saying. The latter added that mobile operators are currently testing 4G services on their respective networks ahead of the official launch of services, and that the said launch will not affect the quality of other services offered by operators. In a related context, Orange Egypt’s CEO, Jean-Marc Harion, said that not all mobile operators have received their 4G spectrum yet. Harion added that his company is keeping an eye on next year’s auction of additional 4G spectrum, and that there is still no agreement with Telecom Egypt (TE) [ETEL.CA] on 2G and 4G infrastructure sharing and that TE owning a stake in archrival Vodafone Egypt is ‘weird’. Additionally, Orange could consider listing on the EGX, Harion added. (Al Mal, Enterprise) Telecom Egypt: EGP10.02 as of 23 November 2016, Rating: Neutral, FV: EGP10.25 per share, MCap: USD986mn, ETEL EY / ETEL.CA
